Nicosia



It has a very old establishment history. The main city developed during the Lusignan period. The Turks live in the northern part of Nicosia, which is divided into two by a line known as the Green Line, which separates the Turkish and Greek sections. Around 1570, there were thick and high walls built by the Venetians for the defense of the Turks. There are two bastions on these walls. Bayraktar's tomb and the Bayraktar Mosque, which were killed during the conquest of Cyprus by the Turks, were built on the bastion which is now known as Konstanza and it was destroyed by the Greeks in 1963. Gothic architecture and Ottoman architectural style can be seen in the works in Nicosia. and 300 years of Turkish administration.
